The authors own copy of this delightful first edition.
Initially appearing in the Madras Mail between 1924 and 1925, this is the first edition in book form of this charming work.
To the head of the front pastedown is the inscription of the author, C. Harcourt Robertson, alongside his address.
He has pasted five contemporary newspaper reviews and advertisements to the front pastedown and front free endpaper. The reviews are drawn from the Daily Dispatch, the Adriatic Review, the Liverpool Echo, the Burma Exchange Gazette, and the Daily Sketch, and dated 1930 and 1931.
With twenty-four full page illustrations, and further vignettes, this is a delightful work in which the author presents twenty-four vignettes depicting life in Burma in the early twentieth century.
CONDITION
In the publishers original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, exceptionally bright. Bumping to back strip head and tail, and discolouration to back strip. Authors inscription to front pastedown, with clippings pasted to the front pastedown and front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
