DESCRIPTION
In the original French.
The very scarce first edition of this posthumously published collection of the theological works of French Benedictine monk and scholar Jean Mabillon, and one of his disciples, Maurist Thierry Ruinart.
After Mabillons death in 1707, and Ruinarts death in 1709, Vincent Thuillier found a number of unpublished manuscripts from the two theologians, and edited and published this work.
The first volume contains Mabillons works and a selection of correspondences, the second volume works from both Mabillon and Ruinart, along with some already published works from Mabillon, and the third volume contains Ruinarts biography of the life of Urban II.
With library markings to back strip tails, and the stamp of the library of St. Augustines Abbey Ramsgate to title pages and final leaves, and their bookplate to front pastedowns. Further inscriptions, dated 1833, to verso of each front free endpaper.
A very scarce work of early eighteenth century theology.
